Keep it Clean & Efficient, with Less Risk
Like any other part of your home, your chimney requires regular inspections and maintenance. An annual check by trained and qualified specialists at Chimney Works can identify potential issues early on to protect your family and home.
Importance of Regular Chimney Inspections
A buildup of creosote is one of the leading causes of chimney fires. To prevent these hazards, the National Fire Protection Association advocates having your chimney, fireplaces and vents inspected annually, with necessary sweeping and repairs completed as needed. Ensuring your system is properly prepared to burn oil, gas, wood or coal can increase its safety and give you peace of mind.
Benefits of Chimney Inspections and Services
During a routine examination, an expert can identify if the natural exposure to harsh elements and temperature changes have caused any chimney issues you may want to fix. An inspection will involve the following processes:
- Buildup assessment: A chimney evaluation will determine if you have a flammable buildup of creosote, soot, smoke, ash or debris that should be removed to improve your home’s efficiency and air quality.
- Structural integrity evaluation: The inspection will identify signs of leaks, damage to the lining or flue, cracks and gaps, or leaning. Correcting structural issues early can prevent the need for more costly fixes later on.
- Unwanted growth and pest prevention: An assessment can prevent unwanted mold and pest infestation by identifying moisture or debris buildup that needs attention.
Our Chimney Inspection Process
At Chimney Works, our qualified technicians are trained and knowledgeable about oil-, wood- and gas-burning appliances. We offer the following professional assessments:
- Level 1: Sweeping includes-level 1 visual inspection.
- Level 2: When we complete a level two inspection, we follow the same level one inspection processes in addition to checking the chimney’s exterior and accessible portions of interior attics, crawl spaces and basements. This inspection is common upon the sale or transfer of a property, after a significant damage event, when you replace an appliance, or when making changes to the fuel type or the chimney lining’s shape and material.
- Level 3: For a level three inspection, we perform the above and examine concealed areas of the chimney as well. We will remove structures such as the chimney crown as necessary to conduct a thorough evaluation.
After any inspection, we provide a detailed report with recommendations for any issues we find.
